SP West Colton hump slug Unit

Engine 1000 began life as engine 7121, an Alco 628, and worked in the Roseville freight pool. It was later converted to a slug (no engine) and mated with SD38s to give more tractive effort for shoving cars over the new hump at West Colton. This was the normal configuration with a slug unit bracketed by two SD38s. Here the 1000 is between engines 2975 and 2971.
