The NP, GN, CB&Q and SP&S were merged into the Burlington Northern in March 1970. Engine 875 (still in CB&Q colors) leads train 88 across the Foss River Bridge on April 26, 1973. I had only become a Christian four weeks earlier and felt invincible. I am standing on a small platform on the edge of the bridge. When the train showed up, that platform seemed to get a lot smaller.
