Norfolk & Western Bridge Seven in South Norfolk

Bridge Seven carries the Norfolk & Western over the East Branch of the Elizabeth River and the Intercoastal Waterway. Engines 8569 and 8563 lead an empty hopper train out of Norfolk and back toward the coal fields of West Virginia on May 25, 1985.

To the left is Military Highway and if I remember correctly the Borden plant.

If this train decided to derail, there is no place for me to jump but into the river and hope that empty coal cars didn't follow me.

Despite being empties, there is still a lot of coal dust on these old cars. That is the haze that you see toward the headend. Disk 125
