Carbon County Railway interchange at Columbia Junction, Utah Carbon County Railway engines 1201 and 1202 at Columbia Junction

The Carbon County Railway interchanged cars with the D&RGW at Columbia Junction. The railroad used a pair of SW1200 switchers numbered 1201 and 1202. The Carbon County Railway began operations in 1922 with about four miles of track to service the Columbia Mine. It was extended another six miles to reach the new Geneva Mine in 1943. Just about all of the coal coming off the Carbon County Railway went to the Geneva Steel Mill. The Columbia mine closed in 1967. The railroad shut down in 1982 when the Geneva Mine shut down. Disk 34
