Utah Railway Alco RSD4 locomotive 301 at Martin, UT

RSD4 number 301 rests in the sun at Martin on August 16, 1981. The Utah Railway had a roster of seven Alco RSD4s and one RSD5. The Alcos were built in 1952 and retired in the early 1980s. All of the units would help lug the train to the top of Soldier Summit. Four units would then take the loaded coal train to Provo. The other four units would return to Martin and handle the mine trains. Between duties the units could visit the shop for routine maintenance.
