The Rio Grande had almost exclusive rights to all of Colorado's coal mines. One exception was the UP Coalmont branch from Laramie, WY to Walden, CO. It is June 18, 1979 and extra 3506 is at the state line at Wycolo with coal loaded at Walden. This branch line has since been abandoned.
