UP First 692 rolls by the water tower at Vader, WA on a cloudy July 2, 1979. Engine 3226 is joined by a foreigner to the Northwest, MKT 601. The Katy unit was a regular on the BN and MKT coal trains between Halstead, TX and the Powder River Basin. I don't know how it wound up on the Union Pacific in Washington. For those into details, the elevation here at Vader is 142 feet above sea level. |
