The Corpus Christi, San Diego & Rio Grande Narrow Gauge Railroad began construction of a line toward Laredo in 1875. During construction the Mexican National Railway took over the line and renamed it the Texas Mexican Railway. The narrow gauge line reached Laredo in 1881. The line was converted to standard gauge in 1902.
The Tex-Mex crosses the Missouri Pacific in Robstown. Texas Mexican Railway engines 861 and 862 (missed the last unit number) have completed their switching in Robstown and are now headed toward Corpus Christi on October 25, 1977. A few minutes later the train is passing through Violet. Disk 103
