It is odd the way traditions will hang on for years. Back in the days of train orders there was a scheduled train out of Ennis for Fort Worth with the number 87. The Southern Pacific adopted DTC in late 1984 and train dispatching changed from train orders typed up by line side operators to trains being in direct contact with the dispatcher over radio. However, the train for Fort Worth is still called number 87. On June 21, 1986 train 87 (HEFWM) has come out of Ennis and is making the left turn at Garrett to head up the Fort Worth Branch. The train has engines 6508, 4821, 7812, and 4810.
