There was a time when you could drive right up to Tower 55 and not be hassled. After 9/11 security tightened and today you don't dare get near the place. On September 12, 1986 this was the scene as I drove toward the parking lot. Engines 1612, 2272, and 2176 rest between assignments on the southeast side of the tower. Engine 1612 is a GP15. It looks like a baby tunnel motor.

Later that same morning engines 2272 and 2176 move a block of cars set out by train symbol HOKC at Ney Yard to Centennial Yard. This saves the train time from having to wait for space in Centennial Yard and simplifies operations at Centennial by having one less train to deal with. Disk 91
