BN train 92 at Reunion Tower

North Tower sits in a parking lot behind the book depository where Lee Harvey Oswald shot President Kennedy. When built the tower was on the Texas & Pacific mainline that ran east west through Dallas. Most of this trackage was removed between the tower and the Age of Steam Museum at Fair Park during the reorganization of the rail lines in Dallas completed in 1916. The T&P and later the MP used trackage rights over the SP from MP Junction south to Belt Junction, northwest to Endot, and then via the Right of Way District (MKT trackage) by Union Station to North Tower. On April 4, 1987 BN trains meet on the double track in the Right of Way District south of Union Station. The first train to pass is train 92 out of Portland, OR with engines 7848, 6326, and 6345. It was scheduled into Houston at 900PM. The next train to pass is train 52 out of Houston with engines 6841, 5135, and 6803. It left Houston at 100AM this morning and was scheduled into Chicago at 600AM 53 hours later. In the background is Reunion Tower and the Regency Hotel. Reunion Tower is 50 stories high and has a revolving restaurant at the top. The tower and hotel complex were completed in 1978.
