Reorganization of the rail lines in Dallas began in 1911 and was completed in 1916 with the opening of Union Station. SP passenger trains were routed west from Belt Jct. passed Tower 19 to Union Station and reconnected with the original line at Gifford. SP freight trains were routed east from Belt Jct. by MP Jct. to Gifford. T&P trains were routed south between North Tower and MP Jct. through Belt Jct. This eliminated many crossings and street running in downtown Dallas. Train CFZ (Chicago to Fort Worth Trailers - Extra 1612 West) is coming by MP Jct. Tower on partly cloudy April 28, 1979. Over a year later train ENDNY (Ennis to Denison - Extra 7307 East) is approaching MP Jct. Tower on November 1, 1980.
