Fort Worth and Denver Depot at Quanah, TX

Engine 859 rolls passed the old station at Quanah (milepost 192) on January 11, 1980. Oddly enough, the segment from Estelline to Wichita Falls was equipped with CTC. I think this was installed during WWII to handle the large number of cattle trains the FW&D was handling from West Texas to either a connection with the MKT at Wichita Falls or to the stockyards in Fort worth. Quanah was named after Comanche chief Quanah Parker in 1884.

The third big power plant was east of Austin on the MKT. This is a loaded train for the Fayette Power Plant (FPPX reporting marks) with engines 7220, MKT 603, MKT 611, MKT 614, MKT 610, and 7170 at Iowa Park (milepost 124) on August 23, 1980.
