The second day of our September 1972 trip started clear, but soon clouded over. We chased a westbound into Slaton where it paused for a crew change. Just as we got to the west end of town, an eastbound train came in. We got out to take some pictures and as Steve was taking the picture below, the clouds let loose. We looked like two drowned rats by the time we got back into the car. The eastbound train had five F7 units, while the westbound train had eight units.
