The Texas & Pacific completed a line between Sherman and Fort Worth on May 9, 1881. Headed north toward Denton is Missouri Pacific train FK (Fort Worth Kansas City) at Argyle on April 13, 1979. The picture below is the meet at Roanoke between MKT train 103 and MP train FK. Through cooperation with the MKT in the early 60s, the MP was able to abandon the line from Whitesboro and Sherman by obtaining trackage rights over the MKT between Denison and Whitesboro. The Katy then had trackage rights from Whitesboro to Fort Worth over the MP.
