Earlier that same morning the Merchandise (Train symbol LAEST) has set out the cars for Dallas, made its air test, and is now crossing the BRI mainline at Corsicana (milepost 621 on the Cotton Belt). Three years later another LAEST repeats the process on October 23, 1980. The train now has a Cotton Belt crew and will run to Tyler. The Cotton Belt reached Corsicana in 1880 building southwest to Waco. In 1957 the Cotton Belt completed installing CTC between Corsicana and East St. Louis.
