CRI&P train at Rock Island depot in Waxahachie, TX

The city of Waxahachie was named after nearby Waxahachie Creek, a Tonkawa Indian word for buffalo or cow. Waxahachie was incorporated on April 28, 1871. The Katy built through Waxahachie in 1887. On December 15, 1977 I was in Waxahachie and caught a Rock Island train coming passed the old Rock Island depot. The operator handing up train orders is from the MKT depot off to the left. Both stations are now owned by the Nay Company. Michael Ellis has a couple pictures of the depots on Geocities.
