The Trinity and Brazos Valley completed a line from Cleburne to Houston in 1912. It also built a line from Teague to Waxahachie in 1907 and secured trackage rights over the MKT to Dallas. The Colorado and Southern, which had control over the Fort Worth and Denver, bought the Trinity and Brazos Valley Railway Company to extend its reach to Houston. It sold half of this railroad to the Rock Island and the two railroads shared this line from Waxahachie to Houston. This line became the Burlington Rock Island (BRI) in 1930. On May 12, 1979 I chased BN train 77 from near Waxahachie to Dallas. At BRI Junction the Burlington Rock Island joint line joined the MKT for the short 29 mile run into Dallas. BRI Junction is at milepost 798 on the MKT as measured from St. Louis. The train has engines 5636, 6567, 6382, and 5607. |

The train is dropping down the hill from Lancaster and will duck under Interstate 20. This is just east of Bonnie View Road. Here the train is coming by Tower 19 (milepost 769) at the south end of the Right of Way District in Dallas. |
