Southern Pacific train number 87 (symbol HEFWM) is on its way to Fort Worth in the last few moments of sunshine on June 21, 1986. The train has engines 6508, 4821, 7812, and 4810 pulling 93 cars.
Train 508 (Extra 5050 West) rolls into Midlothian on May 5, 1979. In the background you can see Tower 94 that protected the crossing with the SP. The tower was built in 1913 and governed trains at this crossing until the functions were changed to an automatic interlocker. The tower was torn down a couple months after this picture was taken. Train 508 has engines 5050 and 8772. During the night a switch engine used to be parked on the spur where I am standing. The crew came on duty in the morning and train 508 will meet this switch engine at Ward Spur a little later in this series. Disk 106
