Engine 74 leads an extra manifest train past Sullivan's Curve on May 27, 1978. I believe this is a second section of train CN (Colton Fruit). In the heyday of Pacific Fruit Express, this train handled perishables out of the LA Basin for reclassification at North Platte. As the orange groves were flattened to make room for subdivisions, this train began handling more and more general freight. This train became the LAB (Los Angeles Bailey Yard) in the Spring of 1984 and the LANP in early 1986. |
