The engineer on MKT Extra 227 North is picking up train orders at the Granger, TX depot on August 21, 1978. The semaphore signal is rather unique to this railfan that grew up along the SP in California. When the order board is cleared the signal arm points straight down. Right after this picture was taken the wind started to blow, kicking up a lot of dust. It then started to rain and with all the dust in the air, it rained mud.
