During the 90s, the SP began replacing the old semaphore signals on the Tucumcari Line. Engine 9600 is on its first run westbound with hot piggyback train symbol CHLXT twelve miles north of Carrizozo, NM. The train is dropping down grade at about 60 miles an hour and splits the semaphore signals at Coyote on February 25, 1988.
