The Santa Fe reached Albuquerque in April 1880. Almost one hundred years later, train 804, with engine 4017 in the lead, passes a semaphore signal at Alameda, NM late in the afternoon on January 8, 1980. The train was scheduled out of Albuquerque at 3:00PM. This day, train 804 had four loads, 62 empties at 2,279 tons. Alameda was a short siding of only 2,600 feet which was fine for meeting passenger trains. The siding was torn out in the mid-80s. |
