Missouri Pacific train FCZ by T&NO semaphore signal at Belt Junction

To eliminate street running and to get the Texas & Pacific out of downtown Dallas, the railroad negotiated trackage rights in 1921 over the Texas & New Orleans. From Union Station the trackage went southeast to Belt Junction and then northeast to the original mainline. This last junction point was T&P Junction later called MP Junction. A late running Missouri Pacific train FCZ (Extra 2540 East) passes the T&NO semaphore signal as the train approaches Belt Junction Tower on April 28, 1979. This is about the halfway point in its detour off the former T&P trackage.
