Sugar beets in the San Joaquin and Antelope Valleys were harvested in November and December. Unit sugar beet train BKGUS (extra 8435 east) struggles upgrade between Woodford and the Loop on November 2, 1976 with a solid train of beet racks. At Saugus, a set of geeps will take the train down the Santa Paula Branch to the Coast Line at Montalvo, then head up to Guadelupe and the processing plant at Betteravia. |
