We chased the WCKCM east toward Gila Bend. We were able to get ahead of it and get to the sunny side of the tracks to get a couple pictures as the train came through Piedra. The train seems to stretch out to the horizon. |

Engine 9049 was one of the few engines to have Southern Pacific in red letters instead of the customary white. The elevation here is 725 feet. Piedra is at milepost 840. Caboose 4304 brings up the rear. |
