An interlocking tower just to the west of the small yard at Colton controlled train movements through the busy crossing of the Sunset Route and the Santa Fe's Third District. Extra 5677 West rumbles over the diamonds at Colton Tower on February 14, 1977.

Earlier in the day engine 2350 has swung around the connecting track north of the tower and will drop off interchange traffic for the SP in Colton Yard.
