Southern Pacific train symbol ABSM at east switch Shumla

I saw this train leaving Del Rio and gave chase. It took awhile to find a good spot where I could get a picture. The extra 8622 west (train symbol ABSM - Advanced Blue Streak Merchandise) has just crossed the big bridge over the Pecos and heads down the mainline at Shumla, TX on January 31, 1974. I followed this train for the rest of the day. After sunset, I drove on to Lordsburg, NM for a night's rest. The next morning I followed the ABSM to Wilcox, AZ. After photographing other trains east of Tucson, I drove until 1AM and camped out at Garnet, CA. The next morning, I followed the ABSM up the east side of Beaumont Hill. I think I set a record in train chasing, as I followed this train 1,215 miles in just under 48 hours.
