Southern Pacific train OGRML at Palisade, NV

Ten miles west of the crew change point at Carlin, the Ogden Richmond oil cans (train symbol OGRML) extra 9144 west rumbles through Palisade, NV on June 3, 1978.

This train started in 1974 after the Arab Oil Embargo to move crude oil from Chevron's refinery in Salt Lake City to Richmond. The 70 car train operated about every other day initially and then tapered off to twice a week in the late 70s and down to once a week in the early 80s.
