Southern Pacific train symbol CZLAT at Oakridge, OR

Engines 8515, 9342, and 6787 lead train CZLAT into Oakridge, OR. August 4, 1987 was not a good day for the railroad or for train chasing. Earlier in the morning FRA inspectors had descended on Southern Pacific's Eugene yard and Dougren where the CZLAT was to pick up a helper. The helper power could not pass inspection and had to run lite engine back to Eugene. The CZLAT then went up to Crale and set out half the train. Due to all of the delays, the CZLAT would have to be re-crewed at Oakridge.
