The Alturas Local was in the siding at Stonghold waiting for the EUASM to pass. Engine 7420 has pulled the local up to the signal protecting the crossing with the BN. For some reason the automatic interlocker has not cleared the signal for them.

Sixteen years earlier Extra 8421East is headed to Alturas with 128 cars at about 10,200 tons. The train is near Copic early on the morning of May 13, 1973. Disk 21
