Train KCCIA splits the signals near Duran, NM on February 25, 1988. Engines 7661, 7858, 7855, 7644, 7515, and 7770 are pulling 92 loads and 22 empties up the grade to Corona. The elevation here is 6,300 feet and the summit is in another 17 miles at 6,700 feet. Although this train has an auto designation, there are actually very few autos on this train, just six loaded auto racks for Valla. The train will set out nine empties at El Paso and set out 12 loads and three empties at Tucson, most of these are for Phoenix. The bulk of the train, 74 loads and nine empties, is headed to West Colton Yard for reclassification.
