Engine 3879 has been working the large paper mill at Halsey and now is headed back to the yard at Eugene on August 22, 1987. Halsey is at milepost 674. This GP9 was built by EMD in September 1959 and started life as SP 5890. It was one of the few factory built GP9s with a low front nose. I think was the second to last GP9 the SP received.
