Train RVMEY (Extra 9170 East) was near Hornbrook (milepost 393) during the last rays of light of June 7, 1980. In another mile the train would derail. Fortunately only one axle of one car (five ahead of the caboose) jumped off the track 100 feet before going over the dragging equipment detector. |
