Some of D&RGW's coal train symbols handled non-unit train movements. Note the box car just behind the units. Extra 5375 West is approaching State Bridge, CO with train 741 on June 19, 1979. This train moved empty hoppers accumulated in Denver to Phippsburg and Craig for loading. After loading, the cars would move back to Denver on non-unit train 742 to Denver. The coal then went to smaller industrial customers.
