There is a center siding at Kamela and I have moved to the east end of this siding about a mile from the end of double track at Nordeen. Engines 9308 and 9182 are pulling the second half of train GQNEKA into Kamela on June 11, 1989. Shoving on the rear are SD40s 3360 and 3548. During the late 80s, Union Pacific tried splitting the heavy grain and potash trains at La Grande. The original plan was to rejoining them at Gibbon. But with all of the other train traffic on the mountain it was rare that both halves would arrive at Gibbon close to the same time. So the plan was changed for the trains to be rejoined at Hinkle. This portion of the original train has 47 loads at 6,124 tons. Disk 15
