Santa Fe Railway piggyback train symbol 169 near Suwanee, NM

On July 26, 1988, the railroad was down to just the south track from Suwanee to Laguna as a maintenance crew was busy on the north track. The dispatcher had to hold train 169 at Suwanee for a higher priority eastbound. After getting the green, the engineer has engines 3850, 8747, 8030, and 8760 revved up to run 8 as the train gets moving again. Double track opened between Suwanee and McCartys in 1924. In 1925, 34 US&S color light signals were added from Suwanee, NM to McCartys on 34 miles of double track. Suwanee is at milepost 47. Disk 63
