Train 589 is going up the newer westbound mainline. The train has engines 5852, 8078, and 8093. I think US66 crossed the westbound main just two tenths of a mile east of here during the 1920s, then stayed close to the north side of the westbound main to near Thoreau where it crossed to the north side of the eastward main, but I can not find any actual records of that. You can see the path in older satellite photos.
Train 589 is not moving at a great pace, so I was able to drive about a mile west and get another shot. You can see a couple Navajo hogans. I wonder if they get any sleep at night? Disk 64
