I chased train 508 up from Grants and caught it again at Bluewater. Double track opened between Grants and Baca (milepost 114) in 1924. Bluewater is at milepost 107. |

Two years earlier I caught the caboose on train 199 (Extra 5627 West) on October 30, 1977. While walking back to the car I noticed that the switch was unlocked. I thought that it could have been left unlocked while a M/W crew was working nearby, but it should have been locked for normal train operations and the 199 train had just gone by at 60+ miles per hour. So thinking safety first, I locked it. Disk 64 |
