The 400 mile MidSouth was another spinoff from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad in March 1986. It was a segment of the old Illinois Central between Meridian and Shreveport, LA. MidSouth engine 1801 is at Meridian, MS on January 2, 1987. It was in a string of other former Illinois Central Gulf locomotives.
