LaGrande, OR to Huntington

From LaGrande, the line crosses the Grande Ronde Valley to
Union Jct. (mp302) at 2,718 feet and then climbs to Telocaset
(mp313) at 3,449 feet. The line then descends to North
Powder (mp322) at 3,251 feet and comes into the Powder River
Valley. The line climbs again to Encina, then begins dropping
down to Huntington (mp389) at 2,116 feet.

SENP2 left Seattle at 130PM yesterday with engines 3348 and 3259.
It departed Hinkle at 215AM with 62 loads and 20 empties at
7,353 tons with engines 3346, 3768, and 3174 on the point. It
met CSSEZ at Minthorn, XAPSED at Homly, GLNEKA at Bonifer,
PCHK on the double track near Meacham, and NPSE at Hilgard.
With the helpers cut in, it was climbing Telocaset
Hill near Crooks (mp309). It would meet Amtrak 25 at Telocaset
and pass the HKPC at Haines (mp332).

2PDNPZ departed Hinkle at 450AM, met XAPSED at Echo, CSPDZ at
Huron, NPSEZ at Hilgard, and ran around the NPSE2 at
LaGrande. It was shifting into dynamic brakes after cresting
Telocaset and had engines MP9000 and MP9016 holding back 55
loads at 4,275 tons. It would meet Amtrak 25 at North Powder
and pass the HKPC at Haines.

HKPC used it engines; 3201, MP6031, and 3088; to help the
GLNEKA to Kamela. After returning to LaGrande, it left with
43 loads and 58 empties, 6,291 tons, and met NPSEZ, SCHK, and LOGH4
(local out of LaGrande) at Crooks. It was in the siding at
Haines (mp332) exchanging crews.
