After passing the summit at 3,825 feet, the tracks descend into the Mojave Desert. It leaves the Santa Fe at Daggett (mp159) for the short hop to Yermo (mp162). At Kelso (mp235), 2,120 feet, it begins a long hard climb up to Cima (mp253), 4,196 feet, and then drops down to Las Vegas (mp334) at 2,027 feet. CLBUP with engine 3136 would be called at 1220PM to move 128 empties, 4,136 tons, from Long Beach to Los Angeles. APLA2 came into North Platte with engines CNW5083, 3417, CNW5067, and 3760 and exchanged power. It left Salt Lake City at 1030AM yesterday and arrived in Los Angeles at 915AM this morning with engines 3588, 3750, 3615, DRGW5385, 3512, and 3133. LANP had 30 loads and 38 empties, 4,560 tons, and was waiting for power at Los Angeles East Yard. It would leave at 1120AM.
CDCLA came into Yermo yesterday at 250AM with engines 3533, 2497, 3179, 2501, and 3265. It was waiting for the imbalance of crews to stabilize. HKLA originated at Pocatello and left at 330AM on the 5th. It left Las Vegas at 1050AM yesterday, met N200 at Joshua (mp258), set up retainers at Cima, and died on the law at Kelso. After three hours, the crews were swapped and the train finally pulled into Yermo at 150AM with engines MP6025, 3195, 3162, and 3972. LCB53 had engines 3179, 2501, and 3265 coupled to 79 loads and 17 empties, 9,798 tons. It was at Yermo and would be called for 1100AM.
XSASHE arrived in Yermo at 850PM yesterday with engines 3274, 3293, and 3197 pulling empty covered hoppers from Long Beach for Green River. It set out engine 3197 and was called for 1045AM. It would leave at 1130AM with one load and 66 empties, 2,144 tons. NPLA departed North Platte at 600AM on the 5th with engines 3544, 2949, DRGW5404, and 659 dragging 94 loads and four empties at 9,007 tons. Engine 3544 shut down due to low oil going through Paxton (mp315). It let the CSPDZ and CNANW run around it at Julesburg (mp365). At Pine Bluff (mp467), the governor shut down engine 2949 and the train limped into Egbert, where the TAMK7 gave it engines 2494 and 2499. After setting out engine 2949 at Cheyenne, it left at 230PM with 111 loads and four empties, 10,942 tons. It left Green River at 1235AM yesterday morning with 127 loads and four empties, 13,039 tons. It picked up 16 loads at Bryan (mp830), let the SLOAZ run around it near Stauffer (mp834), and let the APOA2X run around it at Granger. It traded power at Salt Lake City and left with engines 3808, 3486, 3159, 3468, and 179. It met the LADET at Heist, met Amtrak 36 at Carp, left Las Vegas at 515AM, and met LANPZ at Borax. It was now at Cima (mp253) setting up retainers on its 7,312 ton train of 74 loads and three empties. LACSZ left Los Angeles at 305AM with 24 loads, 1,721 tons, and engines 3457 and 3306. It left Yermo at 830AM, had just met the NPLA at Cima, and was zooming through Brant (mp263). These units came into Los Angeles on the NPLAZ. |
