Steve took the top picture while I took the lower one. I think this westbound train (engines 5661 and 5541) is symbol 368, the old FO-53 symbol before all the symbols were changed in January 1971. It handled Ford automobiles and parts headed to southern California. This train was discontinued later in 1974.
Where is a pole filter when you need one. East and westbound trains meet just west of the tower. Bottom picture is on disk 83.
In 1919 the AT&SF completed the installation of block signals on 13 miles of double track between Eldorado, KS and Augusta. In 1931, it added a GRS model 2 interlocking machine at Augusta with 34 working levers. By January 1950, CTC had been installed on single track segments from Ellinor, KS to Wellington via Augusta.
