Inside the cab of a set of Santa Fe FTs

Despite the advances in technology over steam engines there were many carry-overs from steam engines. This helped engineers in the transition years as they moved from steam to diesel. The air brake valves were directly in front of the engineer just like they were on a steam engine. The sanding valve was over by the arm rest and the headlight control was just above the window, just like they were on a steam engine.
