Just after leaving Vaughn the train goes over the Southern Pacific line between Tucumcari and El Paso, TX. The SP had a branch out of Tucumcari to tap into the coal deposits west of the Santa Fe Raton Line at French. In the picture below, the SP station at Vaughn was beyond the coaling tower just to the right of the water tank.
