Just after leaving Vaughn the train goes over the Southern Pacific line between Tucumcari and El Paso, TX. There was not a whole lot of anything near the SP facility at Vaughn. There was a two story station and water tank.
South of the station and closer to the Santa Fe line was a coaling tower. The SP had a branch out of Tucumcari to tap into the coal deposits west of the Santa Fe Raton Line at French.
In July 2015, BNSF completed second track north of the original main between Carnero and Tejon and on the south between Tejon and Vaughn. To see the south side of this overpass (tunnel), see my Golden State pictures.
