ATSF Railway Engine 5000 2-10-4 and train in the siding at Ricardo, NM

Extra 5000 West is in the siding at Ricardo to meet more eastbound trains. Ricardo is at milepost 729.3 and is probably one of the most remote sidings on the Santa Fe system. It is about ten miles to the nearest paved highway even today.

ATSF Ricardo Depot

This is the only picture I've ever seen of the depot at Ricardo. I assume it was torn down after CTC was installed in 1945.
