Peru, IN was also a crew change point on the old Wabash now a part of the Norfolk &Western. On a hazy morning (July 5, 1982) I caught engine 8045 on the point of a westbound train as it waited for a new crew. On either side of it were two eastbound trains. During 1925-26, the Wabash added 18 US&S semaphore signals between Logansport and Peru. In 1958, it installed US&S CTC from Peru to Logansport. The CTC machine was at Peru.
On July 31, 1982 I found engines 8043, 4157, and 851 parked with train DM-36 just east of Peru waiting for an empty slot to enter town. Disk 116
