Train GQNEVA has descended the grade from Ticeska and is now next to the Snake River at King Hill. The line begins to drop from the plateau at Shoshone (elevation 3,969 feet) on a gentle grade of 0.1% to 0.5% until Ticeska (elevation 3087 feet). Then the grade increases to around 1.6% for about seven miles to just east of King Hill (elevation 2,526 feet). The line then follows the gentle slope along the Snake River. The UP added a second main track between Glenns Ferry and King Hill in 1922 and between King Hill and Ticeska in 1928. Disk 17
