I was on a trip from Dallas, TX to Wadley, GA via Memphis, TN and trying to follow the Frisco between Memphis and Birmingham. Illinois Central Gulf engines 2516 and 7742 pull a cut of pulp wood flats through the streets of New Albany, Mississippi on October 5, 1978. Note the old Alco trucks on the 2516. The GM&O merged with the IC to form the ICG in August 1972.

The engines will do some switching south of town before heading back to Jackson, TN.

Illinois Central Gulf engines 2516 and 7742 return to the rest of their train north of town and cross the Frisco main line. This line is now operated by the Mississippi Tennessee Railroad and has been cut back to just 27 miles between New Albany and Falkner. Disk 133
