Train USST is leaving the yard at Elko on Sept. 17, 1987. It has engines 3628, 3737, 3656, and 3376 pulling 87 loads at 11,124 tons. This unit train began in April 1987, hauling coiled steel from Pennsylvania to Pittsburg, CA for US Steel. It operated via Conrail and C&NW as symbol CRNPU loaded and NPCRX eastbound. It operated as STUS for the empties and USST for the loads averaging 12,000 tons. It used some coil cars and mostly gondolas. |
